FRIDAY SOCIAL LEAGUE RESULTS
Good win for the Legion
The Legion were in semi-final cup action on Friday playing top of the league Conservative B, who have not lost a game this season. They turned up with alll their big guns for this match, Essex County A players Eddie Gosling and Alan Collins.The format is one leg 501 double start. First on was Kevin Savory hot from a good win in the superleague with a 25+ average, he was playing County A player Eddie Gosling. Eddie got away first with scores of 100, 140, 100 it was hard for Kevin to catch up. Next on was young Shaun Cook who struggled and finally lost making the Legion 2-0 down.Wyan Jay was next on he was on for a twelve darter but went for the wrong double, he finally finishing in 18 darts. Gary Campbell was next playing Danny Brennen. Danny was away first scoring 4 100s in a row Gary fought back missed a 19 to leave a shot at the double leaving Danny to shot out. That made the score 3-1 to the Con Club. Next on was old Jack The Coat Gilders, he got away with 101 and scored well to win, game of the night. Andy Pagett was on next playing Alan Collins. Alan got away well and scored a 180 leaving Andy trailing behind but Alan had double trouble leaving Andy to shoot out on double top making the score 3-3. Steve Cook was last on playing Gerry Brennen both players got away well and it was even until Steve who wanted 202 hit a 140 leaving 62 which he got in the next three darts making it 4-3 to the Legion. It was a great win with a scratch team against a class team the Conservative B. The Legion will now be playing in the final on finals night.

Thr Legion were at home for the second time this season playing the newly promoted Belle Vue B. First on was Gary and Kevin they had a very good game with Gary hitting a 160 start with some good finishing from Kevin, they won 2-0. Wyan and Bert were next they also had a good game winning 2-0. Last on in the pairs were Steve and Shaun they also won 2-0. Kevin was first on in the singles he played a clinical game to win 2-0. Wyan was next who played a good game to win 2-0. Next on was Gary who is playing very well at the moment he also won 2-0. Bert was on next he lost 2-0, Shaun also lost 2-0. Steve was on last he won 2-0, that made the final score 7-2.

The Legion travelled to the Conservative club on Friday. It was going to be a tough game as they were runners up last year. First on in the pairs Wyan and Bert they lost 2-0. Kevin and Gary were on next they won 2-1. Last up was Steve and Shaun who lost 2-0. Shaun was first on in the singles he was not having a good night by losing 2-1. Old Bert was next he played very well to win 2-0. Gary followed he was up against Eddie Gosling, Gary played a cracking game to win 2-0. Wyan was next on he also was not having a good night he lost 2-0. That made the score 4-3 to the Con Club which ment we hd to win the last 2 games. Next up was Kevin he was playing Gary Bateman they had a hard foughtmatch with Gary coming out on top 2-1,unlucky Kevin. Last on was Steve playing Gerry Brennen, Steve had a good game by winning 2-1. That made the final score 5-4 to the Conservative Club.

The Legion played away again this week at West Bergholt Social Club.Once again we struggled to get a team with Gary and Kevin missing, so it was down to the old boys to step in. First up were Jack and Bert with a total age of over 150 years they put up a good game but lost 2-1.Wyan and Dover were next on with a good win 2-0, Steve and Shuan were last in the pairs they lost 2-1. First on on the single was Steve who lost 2-1 whose opponent hitting a 160 and a 120 start on his winning legs. Next on was old Jack playing essex star Adrian Genery Jack lost 2-0. That made it 4-1 to Bergholt. Dover won 2-0 as did Wyan, then came the games of the night. Shaun stepped in for the missing Kevin and won 2-1 with a bull double 16 shot out to win. That made it 4-4 with old Bert on last who played a cracking game to win 2-0, what a come back against a very good team.

The Legion travelled to the newly promoted Highways Club. Gary and Kevin where on first on they won 2-1, Steve and Bert lost 2-1 with Dover and Wyan winning 2-1. It was down hill fast in the singles withthwe Highways showing there class by winning five of the singles 2-0. Steve was the only winner to make the end result 6-3 to the Highways.

The Legion has their first game at home against Tollesbury British Legion. First on in the pairs is Gary and Kevin, they won 2-0. Next up where Steve and Bert they also won 2-0 as did Wyan and Dover. First on in the singles is Dover, he won 2-0 Gary was next up he also won 2-0. Steve was on next he won 2-1, Wyan also won 2-1 .Kevin was up next he won 2-0 , with Bert on last also winning 2-0 made the final result 9-0.
25th Sept
The Legion travelled to the Greenstead Social Club on Friday. They had a scratch team as some of the regular players were missing. This was going to be a hard game as they beat us 6-3 last year.First on in the pairs were the old boys, Jack Gilders and Bert Crewe, they must make up 150 years between them, but they turned up. They lost 2-0, next on were Steve and Shaun Cook they went on to win a closely fought game 2-1. Last on were Kev Savory and Wyan Jay, they won 2-0, that made it 2-1 to the Legion, a good start. First on in the singles was old Jack, he won 2-0, good man. Next on was Steve who won 2-0 with a 114 finsh 60, 4, bull. Old Bert was next he lost a hard fought game 2-1. Shaun followed he lost 2-0 wIth Kevin on next winning 2-1. Wyan rounded the night off with a 2-1 win. that made it 6-3 to the Legion which with the scratch team we had was a very good result.
18th Sept
First game of the season pitched the Legion up againts last years winners. The pairs did not start well with the Legion pairing of Wyan and Jack losing 2-0. Steve and Dover lost 2-1 with Tony and Kevin losing 2-0.The singles started a bit better with Steve winning 2-1, he was on for a 7 dart finish but missed and finished in 9. Tony was on next but narrowly lost 2-1. Kevin also lost 2-1. it was down hill from there with Jack, Dover and Wyan all losing 2-0. Final score lost 8-1, not a good start. We are away to Greenstead on Friday, coach leaves the Kingshead at 7.30 if any one is intrested in coming to support or play.

The Football Club played very well to win the Arther Adams Cup by beating The Red Lion 8-4 with James Hills hitting a 180. The Community Centre beat The Rosebud to win the Ernie Wilkes cup, well done to both teams.

Tony Starbrook and Terry Spencer of The Red Lion, and Steve Williams and Micky Fisher went throught from The Legion. The singles play-offs where played at four venues on Monday night. One winner from each board went through to finals night. Winner from the Kingshead board was Bill Slaterly, Winner from the Rosebud board was Anthony Neil who had a 13 dart leg. He played young Branden Cardy of the Football Club who played very well in the board final. Winner of the Cherrytree board was Gary Campbell he played Tony Starbrook who hit 2 180s in his semi-final game. Last man through was Wyan Jay who beat Dave Brine on the Legion board.
